Earth-Toons
Let's get serious for a moment. Saving our planet Earth is no joke, and I believe catching someones attention with a humorous cartoon can be a cleaver way to get a point across. I have always had a passion for protecting our environment and it struck me one day to use this medium to address the critical issues: Global Warming, Loss of Habitat, Pollution, Forest Fires, Extinction...the list goes on, and will provide me with endless material (sadly enough) in the months to come.
Earth-Toons are available on T-shirts and soon on posters and other products in Jim's Gallery Store. You can help get these important messages out to the World. I will be donating a portion of the proceeds to various Environmental causes to be named as I get this project rolling. This artwork is also available for use on a permission basis for your group or cause. I will also donate a custom cartoon to your group or cause, so please feel free to contact me.
Remember, it is up to all of us as the species that has the most to lose to fix the problems for all species--before it is to late!

To create an Earth-Toons cartoon, I start with a concept. Images just pop up in my brain (ideas sometimes rattle around in there for a few minutes or days) and I start sketching what my mind sees. A few crude thumbnails develop into a rough sketch like the one shown below. From there I trace it with ink, adding more details. The video above shows this process. Finally, I color a black and white copy with watercolor paint. The video below the rough sketch shows this step. The entire cartoon takes me about 2-3 hours from concept to finish. The last step is creating it's attractive presentation and that is done in Photoshop and Microsoft Publisher.
