Motorcycles
Motorcycle design has come along way since some guy strapped a lawn mower engine to a bicycle. The motorcycle illustrations here are stylized interpretations of popular bikes. They are caricatures which means I took certain liberties, exaggerating features. My intent is to give the bikes a feeling of movement & speed.

Jim's Gallery Store has these Bikes featured in different formats for display in prints and posters. I will be adding more on an ongoing basis. If there is a bike you would like drawn, let me know and I will to add it to the collection.

Here is the latest Ride, bike-HDEG005. This is in its presentation form that is available in the store.

This Video is a condensed demonstration on how I illustrate a bike. I first start with a rough sketch of the bike working from photo references of the actual motorcycle. I work out all my proportions and basic shapes on the rough and them place it under a piece of tracing paper called vellum. The final drawing is done with a black marker and fine tipped technical pen. Most of it is drawn freehand with an occasional use of a straight edge or curved guide. Forty minutes of drawing has been edited down to 7 minutes.

This is Bike HDFB-001 colored in watercolor.
